Last Saturday, me and honey went for grocery…well, we thought we’d rather cook as we’ve been eating de lata for almost a month now…and since we have a new cooker…why not cook??!!
So my first try is…PORK SINIGANG! Honey was raving about me cooking sinigang…so while we’re on the grocery, I just said we’d try…anyway, there’s Roni if the Sinigang didn’t turn out right…
So while we’re on the grocery…Of course, we went to the Meat Section…OMG! There’s loads of Pork cuts to chose from..and I don’t know what the heck am I gonna buy…I mean…the only pork cut that I know is porkchop…and I don’t know if you can use porkchop for sinigang!!! So we’re really at a lost! Oh well..i just opted to play safe and ask the people there what best to buy…and I think we got it right…Next stop is the veggies…I know for a fact that there’s string beans in Sinigang as that’s the only veggie I eat in sinigang…So we grab one…then the lady there told us we should grab kangkong…how does kangkong looked like??!! I don’t know…so in the end…no more kangkong for our sinigang…then honey said she loved okra on Sinigang..so we grab an Okra…of course I know garlic and onions are a must..so we grab those as well…now, we went to tomatoes and argued if we should add tomatoes to our sinigang…and since we don’t know…we removed tomatoes from our list! So now…I know we should have the instant sinigang mix coz that’s my only salvation…I grabbed a pack of Knorr Sinigang mix to complete our ingredients…
At home…am really at a lost…first I don’t know how to cut okra! Ahem ahem! What I did…I removed both ends and that’s it! Nyahahahah….i cooked my sinigang which basically tasted like sinigang except that honey is complaining that I didn’t managed to actually cook the meat…so we end up braising the sinigang with all the veggies in it…so at the end..all veggies are soggy…but it taste good…since honey loved her okra to be soft…and I prefer my sitaw to be well cooked…
So all in all…I think I did great with my very first cooking experience…and now I’m off to checking out recipes over the net…just the basic one…and I think I’d try…I just hope it turned out ok as well…wahahaha…I know it’s not much…but for those who knew me…they’d say it’s a major achievement…I think I’m really independent now….
