I could easily say that this is one of my favorite restaurants. Jerellt introduced this to us when she treated us on her b-day last year in Tagaytay. There are only two branches of Kanin Club then. The other one is at Quezon City which is uber far from my place.
It’s one of the famous stop-over for those of us who visits Tagaytay. So finding out that they are opening a branch in Ayala Triangle, just a street away from my office, made us so excited.
So I dragged G.p one evening to have dinner there. I was so excited to have her try Crispy Dinuguan, Bagoong Rice and Sinangag na Sinigang - my favorites. G.p doesn’t eat Kare-Kare, I know! I know! She misses a lot not eating this heavenly dish but after years of persuading her to no avail, I simply gave up! Hahahaha… So I didn’t even think of asking her to try this another fave of mine.
Crispy Lechon Kawali (Php200-)
However, after seeing the menu she opted for the Crispy Lechon Kawali instead of the Dinuguan but she let me have my Bagoong Rice. Hahahaha..Talk about compromise eh!
Crispy Lechon Kawali is not really a favorite. It’s too crunchy and a bit bland. I was teasing G.p that she should’ve given up the fight and allowed me to order. :-P
Bagoong Rice (Php200—)
Anyway, having the Bagoong Rice complements everything.(See?) The bland taste of the Pork was bearable because of the bagoong.
Special Turon KC (Php50+) However, the highlight of our meal is the TURON! I remembered having this when I was with Jerellt and our friends and I super loved it. Making G.p have it and seeing her enjoyed it made me feel so happy. I love their interiors!
The Kanin Club in Ayala Triangle, is so much like their branch in Sta. Rosa. Their interiors are so Pinoy and they have Capiz windows.Everything about the place shouts Spanish Era Philippines. And another thing they have in common? Both are ALWAYS PACKED! Go there at lunchtime or dinnertime and you would surely find yourself queuing for a table.
This restaurant is definitely worth a visit. My favorite RX DJ's went there recently and they all have nothing but great words for the place. So if you want yummy Pinoy food that's within your budget, Kanin Club is the best place to be.
P.S.: I know my food entries are NOT that informative, food blogging is really not my forte. The crown belongs to someone else. So if you want more in depth review about this place, please click on these links: Jerellt's and Chico's.
