I was so broken hearted when I thought I wouldn’t be able to catch this film on the cinema. That weekend when it was shown was the same weekend where I choose A Secret Affair (which is super lame) instead of this film. So imagine how happy I was when I found out that it was shown on Robinson’s Galeria. I literally dragged my sister since she also loved musicals.
Put a song in a film and I would surely buy it. :) This one in particular is kinda unique in its own way since all the songs are done in acapella. Aca-excuse me?! No instruments?! How cool is that?!
Well, as usual do not expect an extra-ordinary storyline. It’s just about a freshman girl who doesn’t really want to go to college but was forced by her dad who believes that her chosen career (which is DJ’ing) would make her starve to death which I totally agree. It’s all about her everyday struggles on the university and then of course she met a boy and blah blah blah. Same old. Same old. But it is definitely BETTER than A Secret Affair since people go there to hear them sing and they did great actually. And that Acapella touch really is something fresh and has definitely made this film extra-ordinary.
I love Anna Kendrick’s portrayal of Becca. My sister didn’t recognize her on Twilight really. Major transformation there. And I didn’t know she could sing well. Yay! :) The rest of the cast is wonderful. That girl who played Aubrey (yup! Same name as mine.) is also a great singer. Who is she anyway? :)
I hope you could still catch the film. It was really fun. Light. And very much chick flick. But with loads of Acapella.
xoxo,
Aubrey
