We're big #KathNiel fans. And so given ng panonoorin ko to. I wouldn't dare miss this movie and I'm so glad I did watch because it is definitely one of the best movies I've watched this year. Hands down!
I am super proud of the Filipino movies lately. Nakakaloka, ang gaganda nila! Pwede naman pala. Pwede naman pala tayong hainan ng mga de-kalibreng pelikula. Di naman kelangan Avengers-level or Moana-level but simple movies na talagang tatamaan ka sa ganda ng storyline, parang Miss Granny or Meet Me In St. Gallen. Pwede pala! Tapos susunod pa ang Goyo!
Anyway, here are my thoughts about this movie and why I think it'll be one of those movies I'll re-watch over and over again...
1. This movie would make you cry and laugh and fall in love in a span of two hours. Lahat ng feelings na yun parang roller-coaster mong mararamdaman. Also, it would always caught you off guard. Sanay tayo na pag romcom, bubusugin ka muna sa comedy and then a tear-jerker scene at the end. Pero dito hindi eh. Simula iiyak ka. Tapos tatawa ka. Tapos iyak ka ulit. Tapos tawa onti. Tapos ngalngal na naman. Kaloka! Nung last nga, tinago ko na ang tissue, akala ko done na with cryola. Hindi pa pala! Labas ulit ako ng tissue at singhot. Iba ang pagkakasulat neto. Ginalingan!
2. Ano mang status ng puso mo ngayon, tatamaan ka sa movie na to. And more than that, you'll definitely learn something. Primo and George's story was shown in such a realistic view (minus all the ulan every masasakit na scenes ah) and very much relatable. The young love. The painful breakup. The difficulty of bringing back the love. Of saving the love. Of re-igniting the fire. The difficulty of choosing which to follow - your brain or your heart. Yung ang tagal tagal mo magpapakamartir tapos pag sobrang sakit na tska ka sasabog. Grabe!
3. THIS IS KATHRYN'S BEST. I've always believed in Kath's talent. Magaling naman talaga sya Barcelona eh. Dama mo yung sakit dun eh. But I guess siguro nga pwedeng na overpower ni DJ because DJ's character has more depth. But Kath's subtle acting is really wonderful. Gustong gusto ko. Pero dito!!!!!! Grabe! I know everybody is moved by that jeepney scene pero totoo kasi na turning point nya yun. I mean, she's doing everything for the love of her life. She believed in him. But she has sacrificed so much. So so so much. Tapos kitang kita mo sa mata nya yung, syet! Di ko maiwan tong gago na to. Kita mo din yung struggle sa kanya. Ramdam mo yung sakit sa bawat eksena sa ulan. I think, I understand why Kath thinks this is the most difficult film for her. Eh di naman sya tumbling tumbling like sa La Luna. Mahirap sya because the heavy scenes are nakakaupos talaga. Mauupos ka.
4. Amsterdam is a beautiful place. And this movie made me want to visit it more.
5. Yung friend ni Kath na bading? Gago yun eh! Hahahaha! I swear, sya yung bestfriend talaga na ang daming hanash. Yung alam mong sinasabi lang yun kasi mahal na mahal ka at alam nyang para din sayo yun but darn!!! Friends, sometimes wag tayong hanash ng hanash kung di naman hinihingi ang opinyon mo. Panggulo lang eh. Cheret! Pero totoo yan diba? Sometimes you think I'll tell her this and that because it's all for my friend's sake but ultimately, could you really help? Sometimes it's okay to slap them with the truth but most of the time, let them get hurt. Let them learn on their own. Because sometimes, sa totoo lang, gumaganun tayo kasi wala tayo sa sitwasyon nya.
Kung lessons learned lang din, madadami kang mapupulot sa movie na to. But I guess iba iba tayo. The impact of the movie on me might be different from you. But definitely, may mauuwi ka.
Go watch! Kaya sya block buster because maganda talaga.
