When Sissy and I went to Shangri La Plaza Mall, we decided to try Mongkok. Eversince the pregnancy, I find myself not liking most of the food I usually love. And end up eating the same thing over and over again. Which is weird coz I usually go for variety.

Anyway, I’ve been loving Wai Ying’s hakaw for years now so when I saw the hakaw on Mongkok’s Menu, it was settled. We’d try it out.

Hakaw or Fresh Shrimp Dumpling (Php 90.00)

Of course, first thing we ordered is the Hakaw. And I must say, they are the saddest-looking Hakaw I’ve ever seen. :’( And is very far from Wai Ying’s hakaw. To say that I am disappointed is an understatement. Even Sissy didn’t like it at all. Bad choice this one.

Seafood Roll (Php 100.00)

Good thing we got these love. Mongkok’s Seafood Roll definitely saved the day. I totally forgot my disappointment with the Hakaw the moment I tried this one.

Mongkok Special Fried Rice (Php 160.00 for small serving)

Beef Tenderloin Chinese Style (Php 280.00)

Since we’re so hungry, we decided to get fried rice and beef. Good thing though we ordered just the small serving of rice. We asked the waitress and she said that the small serving is good for 2 pax while the large serving is good for 4pax. Sissy and I are so hungry so I am so tempted to get the large one but settled for the small serving thinking na pag nabitin kami, we’ll just order plain rice.

Paglabas ng fried rice, boom! Kasya sa buong panilya ko. Kaloka! I liked the fried rice though. And is perfect for the beef dish we ordered. The fried rice’s toppings has sauce. I was expecting a dry one so it’s a little surprise for my taste buds.

Overall dining experience was okay. Except for the sad Hakaw, I liked everything. Although I’d always choose Wai Ying over this place. Ibang levels ang sarap dun eh. Hmmmm.. come to think of it, I miss Wai Ying, hopefully I can drop by one of these days. Grabe kasi nung Christmas season, hongtrapik!

So anyway, how are you guys? I’m having kind of a hard time lately. With the extra active little peanut who kicks everything inside me to the exhaustion I’m feeling lately. Wasn’t able to really enjoy the Christmas vacay because I literraly spent the entire 2 weeks on my bed. Pero konting kembot nalang. Konting konti nalang!!!!

A couple of months back, the brother and I went to Resorts World Manila for the special screening of Man of Steel. Since it's the brother's first time at RWM, I decided to go there early so we can check out the stores and eat prior to the movie screening.

Checking out the restaurants in the place, the brother opted for Stackers. It's a restaurant that offers yummy looking burgers and fries and chicken. So we decided to try it out. Plus they are not that crowded by the time we dine in.

We asked for a table for 2 and was immediately ushered. The brother got himself 2 pcs chicken, french fries and blueberry cheesecake yogurt. While I opted for their Jack Burger meal. The brother is really a big eater so no wonder he ordered all of those. He even asked for a bite from my burger. #GrowingKids

The food is great. I loved everything we ordered. My burger is juicy and yummy. Oozing with cheese and bacon made it extra especial. The brother's fried chicken is also very delicious. It's tender and not too bland. I like that even the white meat tastes good. And the fries are also good. Both the flavored ones and plain ones. They are not too salty also. and I specifically loved the blueberry cheesecake yogurt. Those cheesecake bits are to die for!!! I really loved it.

But allow me to mention our not so good experience. I've been telling you guys that I am really very specific on customer service. Even if you give me the best food in the world, if you have shown poor customer service, do not expect me to pay you another visit. EVER! And that's exactly what Stackers RWM did to us.

First, we we're seated to a cramped 2 seater table. It's a circular table na sobrang liit. All our orders didn't even fit. Although it's okay for me coz, the place is a little small. Maybe they are maximizing the area.

Second, it took them forever to attend to us! After ushering us to our seat, we were given the menu. I was waving frantically for someone to attend to us pero they are deadma. I know they already notice me kaso may kasabay kaming foreigners na tatawag, and inuuna nila yun!!! Promise! I was like, it is discrimination I'm experiencing? And I'd have to follow up our orders many many times. Especially the dessert. I asked them kasi to serve it later after the meal. I would usually do that kasi sayang naman the dessert if served earlier tapos you won't be eat it right away. And on other restaurants, once they noticed that you are almost done with your meal, they are the one's who'll approach you and ask if you want the desert to be served already. May kusa. And since Stackers is not like that, I asked for their waitress to serve it to us already. That is after waiving my hands for a couple of minutes ah. Then I noticed that the first waitress I talked to didn't get anything from the kitchen. After talking to me, she went to another foreigner customer. By the way, that time, Stackers has loads of foreign customers. So I had to follow up. Promise! I am on the verge of shouting. Coz I can't believe they are treating us like that. If I'm not with my brother, makakatikim sila talaga sa akin. Kaya lang I'm with my brother who keep on telling me to just let it go. Pero kahit sya nagsabi na "Oo nga ate. Bakit tayo lang hindi nila masyado pinapansin? Eh mas madami nga order natin sa mga foreigners na yun oh.". Which is like, EXACTLY! And besides, we are paying customers naman. So bakit?

Another thing is, sobrang tipid nila to give us a smile. Tapos they'd talk to us na parang okay lang. Buti pa nga crew ng Jollibee laging naka smile eh. And sa amin lang sila parang ganun. OMG! Discrimination talaga. I am never going back. Ever.

Another super duper late blogpost. I think it happened some time in June or July. Ang efficient ko talaga!! Ibang levels! :)

Anyway, the companion has been raving about this burger house eversince we got back together. He keeps on telling me that he wants us try it out being the big-eater that he is. So one afternoon, we went ahead and tried it out.

Zark’s Burger is located in Taft Avenue, Manila. In front of the De La Salle campus. The companion told me that it was quite famous and getting seats would be difficult. I was like, iHop at J.Co levels ganun?! I didn’t initially believe him, coz come on! It was just a burger house and it was a Sunday when we went there so no students. Getting a table would be a breeze! But boy I was wrong!

We we’re on wait list when we arrived and had to wait like 30minutes before getting ourselves a table. Wow huh! In my mind, I was like, sikat nga ang lolo nyo!!

It was actually a typical store. Nothing fancy. It' has that hole-in-a-wall vibe. They got tables and chairs scattered all over the place. No posh lighting, no nothing.

Zark's Ultimate Burger (Php 130 + Php 20.00 for Fries and Regular Iced Tea)

I got the Zark’s Ultimate Burger. When I read on the menu that it was served with mushroom and bacon and cheese, I know I have to have this. It’s a quarter pound burger served with cheese, veggies, mushrooms and bacons. YUM!

Actually it was oh so good! The veggies are crispy and fresh. The bacon was fried to perfection. I love that the cheese sauce and mushroom are not overpowering and just blends well with the juicy, yummy, huge burger patty. My only problem with this meal is that it’s soooo huge! I can’t fit it in my stomach.

The thick and crispy fries that goes with it is perfect also. I was munching on it selfishly. All calories and cholesterol counting are thrown out of the window. May veggies naman. Baka pwede na yun! Char!

Deep Fried Burger Served with Fries and Iced Tea (Php 185.00 for 1/2 pound burger )

The companion decided to get the most sinful and fattiest burger of them all. Deep fried burger? As if all the fats of a quarter pound burger is not enough, they have to deep fry it! Kaloka! And he got the 1/2 pound burger!! I was trying to talk him out of it but he still got the 1/2 pound. Kaya nya daw! Ayan! Busog na busog at halos di maubos ang burger. Akala ko hindi makakatayo after eh. Nyahahaha! Tried it and it was insanely good though. But I won’t dare finish an order. No no no!

Nachos Galore (Php 85.00)

I also got a plate of Nachos Galore. It’s tortilla chips topped with cheese sauce, lemon garlic, bacon bits and tomato salsa on the side. IT.WAS.HEAVEN. And I was so shocked to see that they serve a plateful of nachos for Php 85.00! Nakakaloka sa dami! This is actually the yummiest nachos I’ve ever had. And I wanna go back to Zarks if only for the Nachos. Ganun sya kasarap. And the bacon bits are perfect. Ang sarap sarap!!!

Overall dining experience was superb. Aside from the fact that you have to wait to get a table, which I think is worth it anyway, it was all good. The waiters are nice and friendly and very accommodating. They are relatively cheap because they got huge servings. And they serve sinfully great food. If you’re a health buff, hihimatayin ka talaga sa lugar na to. Pero sabi nga nila, masarap ang bawal! Char!

Will I go back? Definitely! Maybe I’ll bring the siblings with me next time and just order nachos. Then, I’ll just get a bite or two off their burgers. Hmmm.. Sounds like a plan!
