Alright, I spent the weekend in Subic for our company summer outing and I had fun! We stayed in Camayan Beach Resort and had a stint in Ocean Adventure and just spent the rest of the day at the beach. Oh don’t worry, the rest of my officemates made sure they had a great night by drinking non-stop. Though most are drunk as hell, it was still clean fun. Just loads of laughter, dancing and room hopping.

More of my Subic adventure on my upcoming posts. But for now, let’s focus on my DIY shirt! That’s my winning shirt I tell you. Everyone was asking me how I did it. :) Last year’s DIY shirt is so simple because I don’t want to go all out as I’m not sure if it’s okay. But this year, knowing that its actually okay to do it, I tried to be more artistic with the shirt.

For everyone who’s asking, here’s how I did it. Sorry if I don’t have photos. I did it the night before. Though it only took me around 5minutes to finish the entire thing, I didn’t think of documenting it. :)

I hope you can visualize what I’m saying on the steps below:

Cut the collar as desired. I cut mine a little wider which turned out a blessing in disguise because it looks like, the off shoulder thingy gave it more drama.
Cut the sleeves and bottom part of the shirt. Tug at the ends to make it curl up a little bit.
Divide the cut off collar into three thin strips and then braid it.
Attach one end of the braided strip on the front of the shirt and secure it with a button. You can be more creative and use other materials but for me, buttons are the best because they are easier. Plus I only have buttons on my DIY kit. Walang choice kumbaga.
You can either sew the other end of the braided strips at the back of the shirt or do what I did which is cut a small hole at the back of the shirt and insert the other end and tie it then let the braided end lose so it’d look like a tassel.
Then tie the end of the shirt. You either tie it on front or sides, it’s all up to you!

Proof that I did won an award. :) I didn’t expect it, I swear! Hahahaha.. But it was fun.

Me and some friends went to Baler, Aurora June of last year. I know! I gotta receive that “Most Efficient Blogger” award, thank you very much! :) But its better late than never right? And summer is fast approaching so I think it’ll still be useful. :)

I was sorting my Baler photos last night and I just realized how much I missed the place. Tried surfing twice and I gotta say that it’s still my favorite extreme sport. Last year had been my year of “extreme sport trying”. With that stint on the Ilocos Sand Dunes and the Baler Surfing and of course Wakeboarding – I am proud to say that I have at least tried a handful of extreme sports. I may not be a pro on any of those but at least, when I grow old and gray, I can tell my kids and grand kids that I have lived my life to the fullest.

I am trying to clear off as much delayed posts as I can. And I am starting with my Baler adventure. Of course, I would like to kick this one off with my outfit. This is what I wore on our last day in Baler. It was actually just an overnight trip so we wanted to cover as much. We initially planned to do island hopping on our second day since we’ve already surfed on our first day. Plus, all of us girls are suffering from a nasty body ache. I swear! Daig pa nag-gym ng 8hrs straight sa sakit ng katawan namin. I can’t even move the next morning. I was close to tears!

But then the boys all wanted to surf again. Well, we went there to try surfing anyway so the girls gave in. Though it turned out, all of us tried surfing again! Hahahaha.. Deadma sa muscle pain. Eh ano kung hindi ako makakilos? :) I will surf like there’s no tomorrow!

I went to the beach ready. On our first day of surfing, I was wearing some short shorts and it was kinda awkward to follow the correct pre-surfing position because I was so worried that my trainer would get a glimpse of my privates. So the next day, I came prepared. I wore my beach pants. They are light and they hug my legs pretty firm when they get wet so its perfect. It also doesn’t get heavy when wet so I can still surf without worrying about the extra weight.

Also on my first surfing experience, I was wearing a bandeau type bikini and had a minor wardrobe issue. Thank heavens we rented those rash guards! So here, you’ll me wearing my most comfortable bikini. I made sure that it’s secure and that my babies won’t say Hi! as I try to stand up on those surf boards. I also put my hair in braids so it wont get into face.

See? I really came in prepared for my second day!

Since G.p dragged me out of the house for some for some late night caffeine boost, I’m all up and kicking now. Goodluck work!

Anyway, remember that Luau themed party I hosted last April?! As I’ve told you , I helped some friends come up with their outfits. So it means a week worth of shopping – Landmark, SM Makati and Glorietta to the max!

Sadly, it also means a week-worth of boosting their confidence. My friends are the prettiest in the office. Coming from someone who’s uber laitera, it should mean a lot! But they are also the shy type and their confidence are below sea level. Honest! So I’m very much happy that I was able to help them improve their fashion sense and at the same time, helped them love and appreciate their body as well as their beauty. Fashion godmother ang peg!!

So while I discuss the laborious styling that I did for my friends (insert sheepish grin here), let me also give you some tips on Luau styling. Feelingera much! Eh blog ko to bakit ba?!

When they heard Luau, my friends immediately thought of flowery dresses! Can’t blame them. Everyone does. And so… here’s my first Luau Tip:

Luau DOESN’T necessarily mean flower power! You may opt for other prints as well. Animal prints would also look great in Luau Party. Just choose the perfect dress style and accessorize.

Note that we opted for a long flowy dress on animal prints for Cor. Also, her dress got that cute chest detail which looks so chic and very “I’m off for the beach!” hype. Perfect for Luau. Another great example is our fashyown friend Joyce who went all Zebra’ey on her long dark brown dress. Very gorgeous. Just one more extra tip for those who’ll go for animal prints, make sure you choose earth colors or better stay on the black and white side. Animal prints plus vibrant colors is a no-no! Teh! Circus ang peg natin?!

For Nikki and Jin, we also ditched the flower pattern but went for colors instead! And then another fashion tip:

DO choose fun colors but never too much. If your prints are large, make sure that there are only one to two major colors on the pattern. Nothing too much. If you want mini prints, make sure that the pattern is not on the dizzy side. And the colors on the mini prints are on the same color template.

Jin on her yellow printed dress. Jin has fair complexion and so this dress suits her.

The problem with Luau is that they could easily make you look like a Bed Sheet, Sofa Covers or the typical, curtains! Really, the trick here is choosing the prints and the colors. One wrong move and you’ll be a walking Sofa all night which we all doesn’t want. So if you’re quite a bit hesitant on the prints that you want, you may ditch the prints and go for colors like what I did. Colorful striped top shouts Luau as well. But if you’ll find a piece that has both colors and lovely prints, then by all means GO!

Cor wants a long dress while Jin wants a short one. So what’s the best dress length for Luau?

DO make sure that you either wear an ankle-length flowy dress or above the knee or knee-length dress. Nothing in between. No Midi’s. PLEASE!

Another major fashion fail for Luau is wearing Midi’s. Luau dresses, specially if they are flowery has the big tendency to look like your Mom’s duster! So it’s best if you wear an ankle-length dress or if you want to show off your newly waxed legs, wear something that shows your knee.

While most petite girls are not encouraged to wear long dresses, there are styles that would look good on them. See Cor for example. She really wants to wear a long dress but she’s afraid she’d look smaller because of it. But a nice flowy dress like the one that she’s wearing is perfect. The dress made her look tall actually.

But how about if you’re really not into dresses?! Can you still come to a Luau Party?

Luau DOESN’T only mean dress to kill! You can of course wear shorts or beach pants and be as hot as the girls in dresses. The key? Colors and texture! Wear something that’s kinda see-though. Very beach ang effect. It’ll be best if you can wear bikini’s underneath instead of your usual undies.

As I’ve mentioned on my last post, since I want to stand out and be me, I ditched the dress idea and went for shorty shorts instead. Pair my shorts with a colorful top and I’m all set. I wore a bikini that matches my shorts so just to minimize the colors that’s already on my palette.

Aem on the other hand came to the venue not prepared! She’s supposed to wear some board shorts or something. And of course, I didn’t let her. It’s great that I came to the venue with almost my entire beach closet. Just in case on of my ladies had a fashion emergency. I let Aem wore my white beach pants (so see through that she has to wear a boy leg underneath) and Cor has these black see-through top. Matchy-matchy and perfect!

DO wear accessories. But DON’T over-accessorize! Beads, bronze and gold are your best friend!

I would usually bring my beaded bracelets on the beach. And for Luau, they are also a great addition to your entire look. Colorful beaded bracelets do wonders of course! Although, there are dresses that doesn’t need further accessories. Like Jin’s and Cor’s dresses which both had wooden beads on the chest. No more necklace for them both. I just put dangling earrings on them. Jin' wore my colorful beaded earrings to match her dress while Nikki opted for the bronze dangling earrings to match her hairstyle. Cor ditched the accessories because her neck piece is kinda elaborate already. And of course, I achieve my Jasmine Trias peg thanks to Jin’s flower.

DO wear flip flops, strappy flats or slip-ons on Luau.

What you wear on your feet actually defines the entire outfit. Make your feet bare by wearing flip flops or strappy sandals or cover your feet with colorful slip-ons. Whatever you prefer, you can never go wrong with them.

My final tip is DON’T wear too much make up! Usually, BB creams are the best. They are moisturizer and foundation all in one. They make you look fresh and achieve ang No Make Up peg for sure! But you can also use moisturizers + little foundation. Bronzers are also a nice touch for a sun-kissed look and of course, pale pink lipsticks. Fresh lang peg!

I checked out some blogs and this food alley came up quite often. It seems like it’s a tourist favorite.

We asked the hotel front desk personnel for the directions and after minutes of wandering around Cebu City, we found Larsian sa Fuente at the back of Robinson’s Cybergate.

I already have an idea on what to expect on the place but not G.p. Maybe she was expecting a real restaurant of some sorts. Though I must admit that I am shocked as well. Larsian looked like our very own Dampa. They have Ihawan lined up on the sides of the place and long tables set up on the center. They also got kids who tries to sell sampaguita necklaces while you eat.

A gay approached us and offered us some barbeque when we entered. He was so hilarious that G.p immediately chose them. We got pork barbeques, isaw (intestine), hotdogs and squid. And then we’re escorted to our table. After a few minutes, we were served with 2 plates wrapped in plastic and another 2 plastic bags for our hands. We were not given any utensils. I guess that’s part of the unique experience: kamayan style!

We were also served with 10 pcs of these love. I initially thought they were suman (native rice cake). But then I remembered my Grandmother in Bulacan who used to serve us with something similar during our Town Fiesta. Though they were much bigger.

After a few more minutes our orders were served. We immediately tried everything. G.p and I are both starving since we had a long day and we skipped lunch because of the Tagbilaran Scene so we ate like kargadors. ;-P

Their barbeques are yummy! I don’t know. It must be the sauce or something but they are indeed extraordinary. I now understand why it’s famous. For something so cheap and so yummy, Larsian barbeques are really sulit. G.p who loves isaw so much had 10 sticks and finish them off in a breeze. While I munch on the Grilled Squid which is also another favorite of mine.

Their version of rice is a perfect match to every viand we had. I initially had difficulty unwrapping them but after a few tries and few more rice (not to mention few more pounds?), I became an expert! haha..

We finished everything and even had second helpings of the isaw and the barbeque. But when we had our orders computed, We’re both shocked that our bill is less than Php250 only! I mean, with those isaw and barbeque, we can feed the entire Paco!

Look at our table after we munch on everything! I know they looked like an entire barangay ate them but whatever! We didn’t have our lunch. #palusotngmatatakaw

Very cheap indeed but very yummy! Definitely a must try! So for those of you who plan to visit Cebu City, make sure you drop by Larsian. But oh! Expect to come home smelling like a barbeque.
