Me, ReigningTatay, #FabSkye, Wally Watthead and Mama Chubby

Our family was invited to catch the press premiere of Wally Watthead and his Lost Glow at the PETA Theater yesterday morning. I was so excited when I got the invite because our family loves theater shows and broadway musicals!

But I was a bit skeptical at first to bring the baby. Although Wally Watthead is a magical theater show for the kids, I am not sure if my 8 month old baby could actually enjoy it. I was even afraid that she’ll get frightened with the sounds or the magical show itself.

But I was wrong!

SHE. LOVE. IT.

As in she super love it. She was clapping the entire time. And she would laugh so loud every time the other kids would laugh. And she was watching the entire thing. She’s awed by the lights and the colors and Wally, himself.

She was giddy when the entire theater was showered with bubbles. And she was enjoying every minute of it, like she could totally understand everything.

We watched with other kids, toddlers actually, and I could see that they were enjoying themselves so much like the #FabSkye. Wally Watthead did magic tricks and entertained us all with Simon the Simcard, his bestfriend and Polly the Picture, his girlfriend. :)

It was the perfect combination of magic, colors, props and acting. Wally Watthead was able to catch every kid’s attention because of his fun antics. I love the way they created Simon the simcard and Polly the picture. It was interactive. Although it was a one-man act, it doesn’t feel like it because he was able to interact well with those 2 other characters. Perfect execution of technicalities. :)

Wally Watthead has everything a kid loves – magic, colors, talking cell phone and photo frame, bubbles, confetti, cute costumes. They have everything covered. :) And they were able to capture the hearts of the adults as well. If you could only see my sister’s face while watching. Hahahaha! Nakanganga pa at tawa ng tawa. :) It was entertaining.

After the show, the members of the press and the bloggers were able to have a short talk with Janne Raudaskoski (Wally Watthead) and his interpreter. Both are actually super nice.

I’ve learned that they already did Wally Watthead in Finland, London, New York and China. Wow! Wally is such a jetsetter. :) They also discussed some of the technical aspects of the production – like the fact that they need 3 laptops to keep the show running, that Polly is actually an Finnish actress and her piece was pre-filmed, and that Simon’s voice is an actual person and it was also pre-recorded. But the very smooth execution is what makes this show extra special. Grabe ang execution as in. You have to watch it to understand what I’m talking about.

I highly recommend this show to all you mums out there! :) And I encourage you to introduce your kids to theater and the arts early. Studies proved that early introduction to the theater boost literacy and cultivate curiosity. I am so glad that the PETA Theater is actually trying to come up and bring shows like Wally Watthead here in Manila for the younger kids. Sabi nga nila, start ‘em early!

I am excited for the upcoming show line up of the PETA Theater. I’ll definitely to bring the #FabSkye to another one.

We often see nice and upscale restaurants being featured on blogs. Tipong mga hindi mo ma-pronounce ang dish name. And of course, it’s so nice to post those yummy dishes especially since they are usually well-plated.

But once in a while you’d come across some hole-in-a-wall restaurants that offer yummy food at an affordable price. Super affordable actually!

And that’s Yelo, A Taste of Snow.

The ReigningTatay and I discovered it one night as we are looking for a place to dine. I was still pregnant then so I’m not really keen on going out.

ReigningTatay suggested the new food hub in the middle of Paco, Manila. It was a new building with a couple of small diners. And that’s when we saw Yelo, A Taste of Snow for the first time.

This is calling me the moment I enter the diner…

Di ba?! That’s their Mango Snow Ice. It’s around 70-90php only. Less than a hundred bucks for that bowl of goodness!! This is super yummy. Hindi tinipid ang manga. And the mango syrup is just perfect. Not too sweet. This my favorite.

This one is Strawberry Snow Ice with chocolate syrup. Also less than a hundred bucks. Although I prefer the mango one better, this too is a sure winner. Medyo hindi lang talaga ako mahilig sa strawberry. :) But the ReigningTatay sure do!

That’s hoe big and chunky the strawberries are. Sabi sa inyo hindi nila tinitipid eh. I mean, that price, I am expecting a meager serving of real fruit, pero hindi! They are very generous on their servings.

That day, I opted for a Ham and Egg Sandwich. I was really reserving so much space for the dessert hence the decision to order the sandwich. But boy! I’m so wrong. Coz the serving is really filling. Mabigat sa tyan infairness.

After that initial visit, suki na kami! Buong pamilya pa madalas pag kumakain kami dun. We also tried their chicken which I so love and their fries and other sandwiches. So far lahat ng na-order is masarap talaga. This one is a great find.

Dining out and trying fancy restos are kinda difficult these days. First, we don’t have the luxury of moving outside our comfort zone with a baby always in tow. So ang malling namin ay either Robinson’s Ermita or SM Manila. Second, would have to be budget. So yeah! I am really a mummy now. Coz I am very keen on checking out price tags. Third, the ReigningTatay is a good chef (alright, not really chef but he knows how to cook really well). So most of the time, if I am craving for something, I’d just request that he cooks for me. Mas mura na, mas masarap pa!

So on one of the rare moments we got to dine out, we pay Mr. Choi Kitchen a visit.

We’re all craving for some Chinese but Binondo is out of bounds. We have the baby with us and the stroller with no car, so yeah! Cannot be ang Binondo.

Crab and Corn Soup

A bowl of hot soup is a must for this breastfeeding mum. So I opted for the never fail Crab & Corn Soup. Aminin nyo! Madalas masarap yan. :) I like the rich thick soup with crab meat and egg and corn. It is perfect to warm up the tummies.

Hakaw

Siomai

Another Chinese food staple is Siomai. Halata bang pamilya kami ng adik sa dumplings? Again, Wai Ying’s siomai is to die for kaya medyo okay lang for us ang version ni Mr. Choi. But definitely this one is tasty enough.

Yang Chow Fried Rice

Mr. Choi’s Yang Chow is actually very good. I super hate it when Yang Chows are very oily. Bigat sa tyan eh. Nakakaumay. But Mr. Choi’s version is just right. It is perfectly cook with buhaghag na rice. I love it.

I totally forgot what this one is. Sorry! But I remember that this one is another hit on the table. We all loved it. Perfect with the Yang Chow fried rice. It is a bit sweet which makes it perfect. And not too oily as well.

Shrimp in Oats

I’m not sure if that’s what you call it okay but that one is another hit. I remember ordering that on that Chinese restaurant just in front of Robinson’s Ermita (which is now closed) and I loved it. But when I tried ordering it on other restaurants, laging fail. Hindi masarap. The batter is just too bland and the oats are bleh! But when I tasted Mr. Choi’s version, naku! Napa-smile ako. In my head I was like…

Eto yun eh! Eto yung lasang hinahanap ko!

Mr. Choi nailed it! There’s a hint of sweetness and the oats are perfect. Hindi yung lasang hilaw na hilaw. And the shrimps are perfectly cooked and the batter not too oily. Ang sarap!

Over all, we loved our experience and I am sure that we’ll go back. :)

I have been checking out the runway fashion week looks via Facebook. I am loving the SS15 collection. Lots of wearable pieces. And lots of flats. And structured tops. And flares!

So when I saw this look on my officemate Dhaye, I just can’t help but take a few pictures and put her on #StyleFeature for the second time around!

Fashionistas could really foresee the future. Imagine? She has zero idea that what she’s wearing speaks SS15 collection. The flats, the flare pants. Even the no make up look!

I just love the pop of color via her shirt’s collar and the green nails. SS15 collection is all about comfort and style, which this look exudes.

Oh how I miss my old body. :( Don’t get me wrong. I love my body. After getting pregnant, I realized that my body is wonderful. It was able to bear life! But I don’t know my body anymore. This bigger frame. This weird bulges. I don’t know it. I am not accustomed to it. I can’t dress it properly. :’( And I miss dressing up! I wanna try some of the elements of the SS15 collection. I actually have a couple of pieces in my wardrobe that I think would work. I am playing dress up in my mind. But I can’t wear it. It just won’t work. Hay! Buti nalang I have friends who actually agrees to be featured on this blog. Harhar! So my fashionista readers could get something naman. :)
