Watched this on it's first day of screening and na-shock ako sa dami ng tao sa sinehan! Even my friends na #TiasOfManila na never mo mapapalabas ng bahay pag week nights eh sumugod sa sinehan just to watch. Iba ang spark ng #CarGel.

And now I know why they decided to accept this film sa dami ng na-pitch sa kanila. And I'll list down my personal review (na aminin na natin na medyo bias kasi patay na patay ako kay Carlo pero I swear sa part lang ng kagwapuhan ni Carlo ako bias, sa ibang aspeto ng pelikula all honest review ang makukuha nyo pramis!).

The story is simple but very relatable. It's a slice of life. Tipong pag napanood mo, masasabi mong nangyari na sya sayo o sa tropa mo. Makaka-relate ka talaga. Either kay Pia na may sandamakmak na insecurities sa buhay o kay Nix na may cloud of doubt sa nararamdaman.
Yung batuhan ng linya na hindi pampelikula ang pinaka nagustuhan ko. You won't get quotable quotes. You won't hear deep lines na parang tula pero maririnig mo yung sarili mo sa kanila. Grabe yung batuhan ng linya na mapapahagalpak ka sa tawa kasi ganun kayo mag usap ng tropa eh. Tapos mapapahinto ka kasi syet, maiisip mo na ganun din ang sasabihin mo pag ikaw ang nasa sitwasyon na yun.
No actor could play the role of Pia and Nix except #CarGel. The movie shines in it's simplicity. Yung mga silent moments talaga yung pinaka tumagos sa puso. And only brilliant actors could do that. These guys don't need validation kasi alam na ng lahat how great of an actors they are and in this movie, sila talaga yung kailangan eh. Yung mga mata ni Carlo na sapat na sa pag arte yung nagdadala sa mga moments. Yung mga ngiti ni Angel na tagos sa puso. Yung mga facial expressions that says a whole lot at sila lang ang makakagawa. Kaya for me, this film has so much more feels talaga.
The music!!! T*ngina yung mga kanta talaga eh. Told you that the silent moments are the ones that shines the most kasi pinapasukan ng matinding musical scoring. Imagine nyo - mga artistang mata palang umaarte na, walang usap usap, tapos pamatay na kanta ni Ebe Dancel na Dapit Hapon. Ay potek! Tulo uhog ko. Parang gusto kong sumigaw sa sinehan. Para lang mabasag yung katahimikan nung dalawa. Gusto kong sabihin na magsigawan nalang kayo please kasi takte soooobrang sakit na netong scene na to. Ganun sya.
The kilig moments are on-point. Isang haplos. Isang sigaw ng "jowa". Isang kiliti. Isang ngiti. Isang tingin. Yun lang sapat na para kiligin ka ng husto eh. Papasukan pa ng mga one liner na banat ni Angge at sasagutin ni Carlo ng ngiti sabay yung signature tingin nya na makalaglag panty. Wala na, hinimatay na kami ng sabay sabay dun sa sinehan.
Totoong ang sarap ni Carlo sa pelikula na to. Yung mga shirtless scenes nya, makalaglag panty talaga. As in tuwing aalisin nya yung shirt nya parang nagwo-walk out yung panty ko. Hahahaha! Panoorin nyo as in! Basta siguraduhin nyong mahigpit ang garter ng mga panty at briefs nyo.
Pinatawa nya ko. Pinakilig. Na inlove ako. Sinaktan. Tapos iniwan. Ganun. Parang ex mo talaga. Hayup eh! After the movie matutulala ka talaga tapos mapapaisip ka kung ayun na ba yun? Babalikan mo lahat ng nangyari. Tatanungin mo lahat ng ginawa ni Pia at Nix. Minsan kakampi ka kay Nix, minsan kay Pia, minsan naman gusto mo sila kotongan pareho. Tapos iisipin mo ulit ano ba yung nangyari. Nakakaloka!

Sobrang ganda ng pelikula talaga. If I could rate this, as in ka-level sya ng Meet Me in St. Gallen pero ibang atake kasi or Kita Kita or That Thing Called Tadhana. Gets nyo? Ganun sya eh. Tipong angat. Tipong di mo malilimutan.

So ano pang hinihintay natin mga baksh? Nood na!

We're big #KathNiel fans. And so given ng panonoorin ko to. I wouldn't dare miss this movie and I'm so glad I did watch because it is definitely one of the best movies I've watched this year. Hands down!

I am super proud of the Filipino movies lately. Nakakaloka, ang gaganda nila! Pwede naman pala. Pwede naman pala tayong hainan ng mga de-kalibreng pelikula. Di naman kelangan Avengers-level or Moana-level but simple movies na talagang tatamaan ka sa ganda ng storyline, parang Miss Granny or Meet Me In St. Gallen. Pwede pala! Tapos susunod pa ang Goyo!

Anyway, here are my thoughts about this movie and why I think it'll be one of those movies I'll re-watch over and over again...

1. This movie would make you cry and laugh and fall in love in a span of two hours. Lahat ng feelings na yun parang roller-coaster mong mararamdaman. Also, it would always caught you off guard. Sanay tayo na pag romcom, bubusugin ka muna sa comedy and then a tear-jerker scene at the end. Pero dito hindi eh. Simula iiyak ka. Tapos tatawa ka. Tapos iyak ka ulit. Tapos tawa onti. Tapos ngalngal na naman. Kaloka! Nung last nga, tinago ko na ang tissue, akala ko done na with cryola. Hindi pa pala! Labas ulit ako ng tissue at singhot. Iba ang pagkakasulat neto. Ginalingan!

2. Ano mang status ng puso mo ngayon, tatamaan ka sa movie na to. And more than that, you'll definitely learn something. Primo and George's story was shown in such a realistic view (minus all the ulan every masasakit na scenes ah) and very much relatable. The young love. The painful breakup. The difficulty of bringing back the love. Of saving the love. Of re-igniting the fire. The difficulty of choosing which to follow - your brain or your heart. Yung ang tagal tagal mo magpapakamartir tapos pag sobrang sakit na tska ka sasabog. Grabe!

3. THIS IS KATHRYN'S BEST. I've always believed in Kath's talent. Magaling naman talaga sya Barcelona eh. Dama mo yung sakit dun eh. But I guess siguro nga pwedeng na overpower ni DJ because DJ's character has more depth. But Kath's subtle acting is really wonderful. Gustong gusto ko. Pero dito!!!!!! Grabe! I know everybody is moved by that jeepney scene pero totoo kasi na turning point nya yun. I mean, she's doing everything for the love of her life. She believed in him. But she has sacrificed so much. So so so much. Tapos kitang kita mo sa mata nya yung, syet! Di ko maiwan tong gago na to. Kita mo din yung struggle sa kanya. Ramdam mo yung sakit sa bawat eksena sa ulan. I think, I understand why Kath thinks this is the most difficult film for her. Eh di naman sya tumbling tumbling like sa La Luna. Mahirap sya because the heavy scenes are nakakaupos talaga. Mauupos ka.

4. Amsterdam is a beautiful place. And this movie made me want to visit it more.

5. Yung friend ni Kath na bading? Gago yun eh! Hahahaha! I swear, sya yung bestfriend talaga na ang daming hanash. Yung alam mong sinasabi lang yun kasi mahal na mahal ka at alam nyang para din sayo yun but darn!!! Friends, sometimes wag tayong hanash ng hanash kung di naman hinihingi ang opinyon mo. Panggulo lang eh. Cheret! Pero totoo yan diba? Sometimes you think I'll tell her this and that because it's all for my friend's sake but ultimately, could you really help? Sometimes it's okay to slap them with the truth but most of the time, let them get hurt. Let them learn on their own. Because sometimes, sa totoo lang, gumaganun tayo kasi wala tayo sa sitwasyon nya.

Kung lessons learned lang din, madadami kang mapupulot sa movie na to. But I guess iba iba tayo. The impact of the movie on me might be different from you. But definitely, may mauuwi ka.

Go watch! Kaya sya block buster because maganda talaga.

Grabe! I really, really love this film. Watched it with the #FabSkye over the weekend and super worth it sya.

So without further ado, here are my thoughts about the Philippine adaptation of the Korean hit, Miss Granny:

Grabe sa galing si Sarah!!!! Literal na sinapian sya ni Nova Villa dito. Ganung level ang galing nya. Tawang tawa ako dun sa scene na nagulat sya sa pag ring ng phone nya tapos napa "ay puki!" sya! Kaloka! Asan si Sarah? Nawala sya talaga. Nasaniban ni Nova Villa. Hahahahah! Sorry, because all the past movies of Sarah are very Sarah G. Diba? Family oriented girl. A good daughter. Mahinhin. Dalagang pilipina. Syang sya. But here, nakakaloka!!! She was able to pull off her "mother scenes". Yung damang dama mo sa kanya yung pagmamahal ng isang ina, ng isang lola. Her scene with Ramoncito (Nonie Buencamino) is just so painful. Grabe iyak namin mag ina dun eh. Oo! Pati ang #FabSkye naiyak dun sa scene. Kala mo naman nakaka-relate sya kung maka iyak. And to think ah, Sarah was able to act with the likes of Boboy Garovillo and Nonie Buencamino. Iba din si Sarah. This is really the movie where she shines the most! Wala akong masabi.
I haven't watched the Korean version of this film but I love how this movie is really very Filipino. Dama mo sa movie yung feels nya. How each and everyone of us truly value our families but sometimes, we fail to show it. Sometimes yung mga akala mong annoying traits ng Lola mo or Nanay mo are exactly the reason why you love them. I like that scene where naalala ni Angie yung mga pagna-nag ng MIL nya sa kanya and realized that it's just really because she loved her. Gusto ko yung mararamdaman mo sa movie yung struggle ni Ramoncito. Yung issues ng mga apo. Maganda sya talaga.
Super funny sya at all the right places. Yung mga comedy na hindi pilit. Nakakatawa sya talaga. I read a review that says dragging sya but for me, hindi eh. Tama lang ang timpla ng comedy nya. At kering keri ni Sarah ang comedy.
Walang ibang bagay as Miss Granny kundi si Nova Villa. Syang sya si Fely! Kaya nakakatuwa that Sarah was able to portray her as her. Alam mo yun? Sabi sa inyo parang sinapian si Sarah ni Nova Villa sa pelikulang ito eh. Sya lang kasi yung funny. Yung kaya yung daldakina. Yung mga dance moves nya. Yung quirks nya. Basta! Syang sya eh. Perfect!
Sa Korean version daw is love team yung character ni Xian at si Odrey. But like ko yung mas love team pa si Odrey at Bert. Hahahahaha! Nakakatuwa yung mga scenes ni Bert at Odrey eh. Kahit yung kay Bert at Fely. Ang saya! hahahahaha!
Decoration lang si Xian Lim dito. Hehehehe! I don't know why ang dami nyang scenes na ni-cut. But well, overall feel ng movie is still very good. Gusto ko sya.
Worth every penny. And really a must watch film!

The moment I saw this movie's trailer, I know I just have to watch this. Lately, ang gaganda ng mga Filipino romantic movies and super worth it na suportahan. Bela has been making good movies these days. With Meet Me In St. Gallen and 100 Tula Para Kay Stella under her belt, I really have high expectations on this film.

And so with that, let's start with our review! Warning lang coz it'll have some spoilers ah. Mahirap iwasan mag-spoiler for this review eh.

It did not meet my extremely high expectation, sad to say. So mas masakit sya I guess. Ginalingan kasi masyado nung ibang movies eh kaya super nakulangan ako dito.
Although Bela Padilla and JC Santos' chemistry is palpable. May something talaga sa kanila na mapapa-smile ka everytime they have scenes together kahit na palitan lang ng dialogue or tinginan lang.
Some of my friends say na parang those "imagination" scenes of Bela are a little bit off. Medyo gets ko naman because they wanna show yung parang "expectation" ni Bela vs what really happened but I also understand my friend. That bit is a little off, story telling wise.
I'm saddened by the fact that they didn't use this movie to shed some light about Cutters. It is actually a mental disorder. Sayang because it could've been educational. At some point feeling ko pa, cutting was a bit glorified. I'm not sure if ako lang to since I used to be a Cutter during my HS years. Shock kayo? Yes, I used to make small cuts on my arms and upper upper leg using a blade. I guess dun ko nadevelop ang fear ko sa dugo. Anyway, wala lang. Nanghinayang lang ako sa opportunity.
I read some people are saying JC's character is very selfish sa movie na to. But I honestly think that he's made the right decision. And when the movie says Bela "fixed" him, he was indeed fixed. That scene when JC said something like, I fell for you because I thought you are strong and whole and fixed but then I got to know you more and saw the real you - broken. Diba? Super true! Madalas we only see what we want to see sa ibang tao. Minsan din we see what they want us to see. But really, when all the guards are down and knowing the fact that most people are broken inside, gaano ka kasigurado na kaya mo padin yun tanggapin at kaya mo padin sya mahalin? JC made the right decision. And the most selfless thing he could do is say no to a love na hindi naman nya kayang tanggapin ng buo. I'd rather hear a thousand NO than a feeble YES. Masisira nya lang lalo si Bela.
I find Bela's backstory bitin. Bakit sya lang ang sinasaktan ng Tatay nya? Ano meron? Alam mo yun? Bitin talaga.
But I love the fact that this movie showed us that lahat tayo broken. Kahit yung akala mo super lakas, super galing magsalita, yung taong nagbibigay sa atin ng lakas at sinasandalan natin - broken din yan! Iba iba lang ang paghandle ng tao. At may iba na pinipiling magmukhang malakas all the time. Kaya wag kayong ano dyan.
While this is not Bela's best film, I'd still say that this is a good film. Worth watching. Worth your time, money and effort.
